Treffaney R. Lowe is a transactional attorney specializing in contracts, entertainment and intellectual property law. She also has experience with real estate closings, business formations, and Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADR). Her personal motto is: Brilliant, Efficient, Skillful and Trustworthy! Ms. Lowe is working towards obtaining a Master of Laws in intellectual property from The George Washington University Law School and has earned her Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center. She started her legal career contracting for companies such as TV-One, Discovery Communication and the Smithsonian Institution. It is through these positions that she perfected her skills in the areas including, but not limited to: music and image clearances; licensing; publishing, production, and talent agreements; government contracts; and negotiations.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Lowe attained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and worked as Telecom Engineer, Patent Examiner and part-time as an Audio Engineer for several years before deciding to attend law school.
In her spare time, Ms. Lowe enjoys attending sporting events and working with children. She has volunteered as a youth basketball coach for many local recreational centers. She works in a non-legal capacity with Capital Jazz Productions, assisting to produce the Capital Jazz Music Festival held in Washington, DC area and The SuperCruise. Ms. Lowe always had an interest in the creative and the desire to assist others. Her technical background and passion for people was a great mesh to the lead her to the study and practice of intellectual property law. She understands the legal and business sides of her practice areas and will work hard in representing her clients’ best interest.
